Day 1 - 2

Arrive in Lima at any time. Check into our hotel and enjoy the city. There are no planned activities other than info session. Please look in the hotel lobby for notices on when and where the meeting will occur.

On day 2 we will have a city tour, one of the main fascinations of Lima is the concentration of ancient history in the area; not only do the origins of the city pre-date the Spanish foundation of the city, its museums are full of the artistic treasures of magnificent pre-Columbian civilizations that flourished throughout the coastal deserts of Peru. Begin to unravel this multifaceted history and discover the complex past of this fascinating city accompanied our specialist guide.

The sites visited can be tailored to your interests to include: La Casona de San Marcos; the Convent of San Francisco and its catacombs; Huaca Pucllana; and the Museo de la Inquisition.

Day 3 - 4

This morning you will take a flight to the frontier town of Puerto Maldonado in the Amazon Jungle, where you'll be staying for two nights. Upon your arrival, lodge staff will take you to their office in town where you’ll be able to pack a small duffle bag with clothing and other items needed for two days in the jungle, stow the rest of your luggage and then travel by private vehicle to the water. Here, board a motorised canoe and cruise deep into the jungle. The journey to your eco-lodge in the Madre de Dios region will take around 3 hours, and you'll be given a packed lunch on the way. Arrive and settle in to your thatched-roof lodge before a short orientation walk of the immediate area and a briefing. Spend the evening getting acquainted with the sights and smells of the jungle and fall asleep to the sounds of nature.

Day 5 - 10

Arrive to Cusco, Cusco is the continent’s oldest continuously inhabited city, and has become the hub of the South American travel network. Spend a little time acclimatizing to the high altitude (3450 meters), then set out to discover some of Cusco's lesser-known sights on a guided walking tour with, remember that you will have plenty of time to explore this amazing place.

The next day get ready to see the main attractions nearby Cusco with a city tour, later on you will have more free time to explore.

Early morning wake up to travel with our local guide through the Sacred Valley of the Incas. An important source of food for the Inca, the Sacred Valley is a lush agricultural region that continues to supply the city of Cuzco with much of its production. The town and fortress of Ollantaytambo are strategically situated overlooking the beautiful Urubamba River Valley.

Today, we will drive by private vehicle approximately 1 hour to the train station in Poroy to begin your journey to Machu Picchu. The Belmond Hiram Bingham Train, which departs from Poroy station, guarantees the highest quality of exquisite, attentive service. Enjoy views of the beautiful mountains and Urubamba River from the comfort of the warm and elegant carriages before arriving in Aguas Calientes, where will then board the bus for a winding uphill journey to your final destination.

Enjoy a 2-3 hour guided visit of Machu Picchu before spending the remainder of the afternoon exploring the ruins after the majority of visitors have left the site. Afterwards, return by bus to your hotel in Aguas Calientes.

Next day, take an early bus back to Macchu Picchu. Depending on your interests, there are a variety of excursions available. Hike to Inti Punku, or “Sun Gate,” the original gateway to Machu Picchu that approaches the site along the Inca trail. Another option is to take a strenuous hike up Huayna Picchu, the mountain behind Machu Picchu, which provides unique and stunning views of the ruins below. From here you may extend your hike to the mysterious Temple of the Moon, an exquisite example of Inca masonry. Alternatively, you may choose to climb to the top of Machu Picchu Mountain, located south of the archaeological site and offering spectacular panoramic views from above.

After your visit, you will take a bus to the town of Aguas Calientes to catch the Vistadome Train back to Ollantaytambo. Vistadome features spectacular panoramic windows with incredible scenic views, connecting you with the magnificent landscapes and offering you amazing opportunities to photograph this amazing journey. Upon arrival at the Ollantaytambo train station, you will be transferred approximately 2 hours to your hotel in Cusco.

Last day in Cusco, last time for shopping or just to chill with a well deserve massage or just to walk around this amazing city.

Day 11

Leave behind the highlands and take a short 1-hour flight will take you back to Lima. The rest of the day is free to explore more of Lima's sights and perhaps do some last-minute souvenir shopping. In the evening, you will get together with the group for one last night dinner.
